Against all odds. Over the last three months, Miami has now lost to Chicago twice as many times (2) as it has to anyone else in the NBA combined (1). The first loss snapped the Heat’s ridiculous 27-game winning streak, ending a run at history, but Monday’s loss was every bit as shocking, and perhaps more so. Miami held every meaningful circumstantial advantage — home court, rest, health, overall talent — and yet collapsed in the game’s final two minutes to lose for the first time in more than a month.

MIAMI — The game was 21 seconds old when Dwyane Wade got wrapped up in the open court by Marco Belinelli, a Chicago Bulls guard who was merely trying to prevent a layup. Wade revealed his irritation by firing the basketball at Belinelli’s ankles.

James and Heat Get Back to Being Themselves

Two days after looking like an ordinary team, the Heat reasserted themselves by demolishing the Bulls, 115-78.
That LeBron James was able to stay above the fray for the most part, anyway was the latest sign of his all-consuming basketball wizardry. James finished with 19 points, 9 assists and 5 rebounds (and just 1 technical) as the Heat shot 60 percent from the field.

The playoffs tend to be freighted with emotion, and Monday’s second-round game between the Heat and the Bulls was no exception. Wade’s technical foul was the first of nine called over all. Players barked and pushed and the game featured as many whistles and four-letter words as jump shots and layups.
