NU Basketball players earn academic honorsNorthwood University's women's Basketball team has been placed on the Women's Basketball Coaches Association Academic Top 25 for the 2016-17 academic year, the school announced recently. Meanwhile, the NU men's Basketball team placed four student-athletes on the 2016-17 National Association of Basketball Coaches Honors Court. NU had its second-highest team grade-point average in program history this past year, ending with a cumulative 3.664, which was good for 11th out of 280 NCAA Division II programs. Upper Iowa led all of Division II with a team GPA of 3.744. This marks the seventh time under coach Jeff Curtis that the Timberwolves have earned that distinction.

Two former basketball players at IU South Bend are facing charges, after police say they raped a woman in February. A short time later, Bannister invited the group to his apartment in IU South Bend's student housing. The victim told police the rape happened on February 19th. At the apartment, a witness said he received a Snapchat video, showing Bannister and the victim engaging in sexual activity. Twenty-year-old Joseph Bannister was arrested for the crime on July 14th, and has since posted bond.

Two IU South Bend basketball players charged with raping a female student

Two former Indiana University South Bend basketball players are being charged with raping a female student -- then sharing videos of the incident on Snapchat. Our reporting partners at the South Bend Tribune report the alleged rape happened at campus housing back in February. 21-year-old Joseph Bannister faces one felony count of rape and Phillip Crothen faces two felony counts of rape. The victim was intoxicated and unconscious at the time. A warrant is currently out for Corthen's arrest.
