No further East vs. West as NBA revamps All-Star Game format

NEW YORK -- The nba (NBA) & National Basketball Players Association (NBPA) reported today a Fresh All-Star Game format for NBA All-Star 2018 in Los Angeles. This will mark the NBA's premier All-Star Game without a matchup between the Eastern Conference & the Western Conference. The 67th All-Star Game will be played at Staples Center on Sunday, Feb. 18 (8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT), by TNT televising the midseason classic for the 16th consecutive year. TNT will reveal the All-Star Game starters & captains on Thursday, Jan. 18 & unveil the reserves on Tuesday, Jan. 23. NBA All-Star Voting 2018 presented by Verizon will advice off on Monday, Dec. 25 before five Christmas Day games across ESPN, ABC & TNT.

In a joint release, the NBA & National Basketball Players Association reported the captains will be the leading vote-getters in each conference, & the winning team will play for a charity chose before the game. "I'm thrilled by what the players & the league have done to improve the All-Star Game, that has been a priority for all of us," NBPA president & Houston Rockets point guard Chris Paul said in the statement. "We're looking forward to putting on an entertaining show in L.A."
